Customer’s Truck Is a “Rolling
Test bed” for AMSOIL
Products
Michael Mallette of Apache Junction, Ariz. has
been using AMSOIL
lubes in his 1992 Toyota 4x4 pickup since it was seven months old. “It’s a
rolling test bed for AMSOIL
products,” Mallette said.
He runs AMSOIL
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) in the automatic tranny and power steering,
AMSOIL
10W-30 in the crankcase, AMSOIL
80W-90 Marine Gear Lube in the rear end, AMSOIL
Series 2000 75W-90 Gear Lube in the front differentials and transfer case and
has installed an AMSOIL
BE-90 By-Pass Oil Filter.
He advanced the timing on his truck two
degrees when it was new and it ran well with his choice of 87 octane gasoline.
However, Mallette said that for many years it was not uncommon for his Toyota to
exhibit premature detonation when he accelerates from a standstill. “The knock
sensor would immediately retard the timing and the detonation would go away,”
Mallette said.
Recently, he decided to add
AMSOIL P.I.
Performance Improver Gasoline Additive. “By the end of the first tankful,
I noticed the detonation had gone away,” Mallette said. “I hadn’t realized the
detonation was being caused by carbon buildup. I thought that
AMSOIL oil and
good gasoline would be enough to keep my car running young, but I’m also sold on
PI now.”
Mallette became convinced in the high quality
of AMSOIL
ATF when his Toyota was still new. At that time, he took a trip up a 600-foot
hill with an incline that varied from 20 to 40 degrees in Mesa, Ariz. The July
temperature was near 115 degrees F. At the summit of that hill, Mallette said he
got out of the truck and heard a “fairly loud dripping sound coming from under
the truck.” Mallette found the source of the drip to be a wax coating
applied to the transmission at the factory. The intense heat generated by the
transmission operating with a conventional oil caused the wax to actually melt
and run off.
The next day, Mallette installed
AMSOIL ATF and
since then his transmission has remained much cooler during operation. “I still
have that dirty wax on my transmission to this day,” Mallette said. “AMSOIL
ATF is what I count on to cool my tranny.”
