Lawn care equipment engines often run hot, sacrificing
equipment life. Conventional petroleum motor oils are poorly suited for the
operating temperatures of this equipment, quickly experiencing oxidative and
thermal breakdown and accelerating engine wear. In addition, many four-cycle
lawn equipment applications do not include oil filters, so oil dispersants must
keep contaminants and wear particles suspended in the oil until it is drained.
As petroleum oil breaks down, these cleaning additives are quickly depleted,
causing deposits and sludge to build up and resulting in premature wear.
