Q. I am currently building a go-cart that will
have a brand new 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine. Do I need to
have a break-in period for the engine using standard petroleum
oil prior to
AMSOIL
5W-30, or can I just start using it straight away? If there is
a break-in period, how long might that be?
A. A short break-in period with petroleum motor
oil is recommended prior to switching over to
AMSOIL.
Generally, Briggs and Stratton will recommend a 5-hour break-in
period and then a conventional drain interval of 25 to 50 hours.
